The North West & Wales Shire Foal Society was formed in 1979, to protect and promote the Shire Horse, and was originaly based at Beeston Cattle Market.
A committee was brought together, under the guidance of the first President WH Griffith and the first Chairman RAS Pleavin, with several trophies being donated by the disbanded National Foal Society.
Brian Pennington, with the backing of Wright Manley (now Wright Marshall) and a small dedicated group of enthusiasts from the committee, held the first Show and Sale at Crewe in the October. This event grew from strength to strength, moving from Crewe in 1990, to the shows present home at Southview Equestrian Centre near Winsford, one of the largest Arenas in the country.
Our annual sale of horses and harness is now renowned throughout the country and world wide.
